Hotel Hazo Palmie Madagascar

Monochromatic drawing made with a black ballpoint pen on September 7, 2024, measuring 20 x 15 cm, the artwork depicts the fictional garden of a fictional hotel called "Hazo Palmie Madagascar." The name is not based on the hotel's location in Madagascar, but rather on the fact that its owner was an explorer who visited the country and brought back plant seeds. He planted these seeds on a plot of land he purchased and decided to develop into a luxury hotel with a private tropical botanical garden. The garden features ancient Ficus microcarpa and Ficus elastica trees, some 100 years old, and numerous tropical plants from around the world, including those from Madagascar (where he had been on his last trip), such as Dypsis decari (triangle palm), Bismarckia nobilis (blue palm), Ravenala madagascariensis (traveler's palm), and Pandanus utilis. Many Washingtonia robusta, Strelitzia nicolai, and Dracaena draco (Canary Island date palms) are also present.
